[Naomi pauses, eyes rolling skyward as she tends to do when conversing with Serenity.

Then she's giggling behind her hands.]

Serenity says that she is not a child, good sir.

[Pause.]

O-Or good Arch Angel? Oh wow. I can't- I mean-

[She stops, takes a deep breath and ducks her head.]

What are you doing here?

[He just gives a little shrug.]

Keeping an eye on you. Well. Keeping an eye on her.

Originally Serenity's angel equivalent was gonna be Michael or Raphael and Markel's was Lucifer.

[Of course. Why should she be surprised that that's his answer? That seems to be what everyone's doing these days, what everyone's been doing all her life.

Puffing out her cheeks Naomi gives a small huff.]

I can speak for both of us when I say we don't need anybody to keep an eye on us!

[He shakes his head, giving her a little eye-roll.]

That's why you fell out of that tree the other day. Because you don't need anybody to keep an eye on you.

[Her mouth opens, prepared to counter. The mention of Tree Incident #35 makes her stop, mouth shutting with a click. A frown forms - a pout really not that she'll ever admit it.

Then she's giving him a Look.]

A stalker. Oh boy, kid thinks I'm a stalker.

[And Gabriel proceeds to have a really nice belly laugh about this.]

Heeey! Hey, stop laughing! It's a logical conclusion!

[And she stamps her foot, childishly. That action is followed by a blush because, well, she was being a child. Naomi is trying hard to be a grown up in the face of all of this.

After all, she can't be the little girl she once was. She's fourteen and kind of has to potentially save the world.]

'nd I really don't need someone watching out for me! My brothers the one who needs to be watched over.

Sure it is.

[But he's laughing, as if this is riotous. Still, he manages to calm down enough to talk again.]

Someone's probaably on that.

Yeah, a buncha crazy people who've kidnapped him and let that creepy Markel guy possess him.

[Naomi huffs, planting her hands on her hips.]

[Naomi gives him a disbelieving look.]

You're an Arch Angel. Isn't it your job to watch over people who need it?

[She stops, eyes looking skyward again. Naomi gives a little huff, shaking her head in response to Serenity's request. It probably looks comical, watching her argue with herself.

Then she scowls, levels Gabriel with a small look of betrayal before she shuts her eyes. For a brief moment it looks like she might fall over, but she regains her balance and when her eyes open their a clear blue.

Serenity levels Gabriel with a Look, arms crossed over her chest in her best attempt to seem angry even if a grin is forming.]

Gabriel, only you could make a little girl go from looking at you in utter awe to enraged.

[Gabriel just pats Serenity on the shoulder, completely nonchalant to the fact that an angel just took the reins of this young girl's body. Whatever. Shit happens all the time.]

I wanted to see how easily she'd crack.

[She swats his hand away when he goes to pat her shoulder. The smile was gone at his words.

Serenity is protective of Naomi.]

Or rather so cruel of you. If that is the only business you have here, to see a poor girl crack, then I would rather you leave.

[His lips are a little thin, now, as he talks to his sister. His hand moves back to her shoulder.]

[Because he had still been in Heaven last she remembered, before she'd fallen to be with Markel.]

[She frowns, Mama Bear Protectiveness for Naomi vanishing.]

What has happened? I fear I'm not as... Aware of things as I should be given my circumstances and my focus being more on making sure Markel does not do anything foolish, again.

[He just shakes his head, sliding an arm over Serenity's shoulders, speaking quietly.]

The Apocalypse, Serenity. The Apocalypse is happening. End times, Armageddon, the Big Flush. There's a war between Heaven and Hell, and the poor saps on this planet are the casualties.

[She's quiet for a long moment, before shaking her head.]

The world will not end.

[Of that she is sure of.]

It is not time for the End.

[And it's said in that ominous tone Serenity so often knew, eyes going far away for a moment. No. It's not time yet.]

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. This nigh-omnipotence thing isn't exactly working out in my favor anymore.

[There's a little sigh, a cynical one. Almost like he's lost hope.]

It is not.

[She gives him a look reminiscent of Naomi irritated puffed out cheeks.]

Besides, if it was Markel would be throwing a temper tantrum instead of trying to kill me. As he has not stopped his attempts or released Naomi's brother, I can safely assure you that the Apocalypse will not be happening.

[But she can't help but notice the cynical sigh, and the irritation fades.]
